The slim 'modern C' neck with contemporary 9.5" radius and very tall frets is conducive to quick leads and acrobatic bends there's a whole lot of sensible shredability on tap. the super thin nitro finish means the alder body really gets moving with each touch of the strings, adding a heap of warmth and body to the tone the pickups crank out it's pretty hot and certainly happiest pushing a tube amp to a creamy, twang natural breakup. All that adds up to a mammoth take on the Tele Twang. This one has also been under the knife: it's been routed for a humbucker and blessed with the finest of Wide-Range style pickups, the Lollar Regal humbucker, as well as new guard to match and a sturdy sxc saddle bridge for easy and accurate intonation. This version of the model got all the good stuff that the earlier ones didn't get: a thin satin nitro finish, the widely praised 'Greasebucket' tone circuit and hot output alnico III pickups. The Highway One series was Fender's no-nonsense entry point for USA made guitars, pre-dating the American Special line by a few years. Fender Highway One Tele, flat black, made in USA 2009.
